Veneers give us the ability to completely redesign your teeth and give you the smile you’ve always envisioned. They are a perfect solution for treating varied cosmetic conditions that affect your front teeth.

A veneer is an extremely thin piece of porcelain in the shape of a tooth to help create a more attractive smile for a person whose teeth have a cosmetic dental problem. They are custom-made in a certified dental laboratory for an individual in respect to both the shape of the teeth and the patient’s preferred color. The durable porcelain is then bonded onto a person's front teeth.

They are typically great alternatives to getting a crown, and are a great way to overcome cosmetic conditions such a crooked or discolored teeth. Like other dental restorations, you will likely need to replace your veneers at some point, but proper care will extend the life of your veneers.

Reasons to get porcelain veneers:

  • To rectify crooked teeth

  • To fashion a consistent, white, appealing smile

  • To fix deformed teeth

  • To whiten gravely-discolored or blemished teeth

  • To overcome teeth that may be too large or too small

  • To fill in undesirable or mismatched spaces between teeth

  • To fix worn, cracked or fragmented teeth

What Does Getting Porcelain Veneers Involve?

With just two visits to Amanda Family Dental, you will have completed the entire process of getting porcelain veneers. During your first visit, we’ll prepare your teeth by gently striking and shaping the surface to make room for the broadness of the veneer. Dr. Jenkins will then take an impression, or mold, of your teeth together with your preferred color of the veneer.

During your second visit, Dr. Jenkins will cleanse your teeth using special liquids that will help achieve the required durable bond for the veneer. She will then place the bonding cement between your tooth and the veneer. To put in position and harden the bond, the doctor will pass a special light beam over it.

We’ll then share thorough instructions for taking care of your porcelain veneers, including things like brushing, flossing and scheduling regular check-ups so Dr. Jenkins can monitor how the veneers are serving you - and what can be done to ensure they serve you for a long time without needing a replacement.
